Required Skills: •Thispositionhastheresponsibilityofconductingon-siteinspectionsallovertheCityforcompliancetothe Atlanta Zoning Ordinance and other related codes. •Staff employed in this position must also conductjoint inspections with other City of Atlanta agencies for quality-of-life issues. •This position also has the responsibility of reviewing and conducting complex research for the documentation of legal non-conformingusesaswellasfortheapprovalofCityofAtlantaOccupationalTaxCertificates. •Thisposition mustrepresenttheCityatpublicmeetingsandfunctionsasrequiredandmustissuecorrectionnoticesfor violations of the Atlanta Zoning Ordinance and issue court citations for violators for Municipal Court proceedings. •The incumbent must ensure that best in class customerservice is provided to both internal and external customers, and embrace, support, and promote the City’s core values, beliefs, and culture. •Works under very general supervision. May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workerswithresponsibilityforcompletionofassignedtasks. •As exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. •EnforcesthezoningordinanceandotherapplicablelawsandcodesfortheCityofAtlanta;verifiesnon-conforming units, structures, uses, parking, etc. by researching from several sources. Qualifications: •Demonstrated capacity to learn zoning and building related codes and ordinances adopted and enforced by the City, includingcurrentlyadoptedzoningcodesandordinances;interpretandapplypertinentfederal,state,and local laws, codes and regulations. •Abilitytoconductinspectionsandinvestigationsofzoningviolationsandpreparedetailedandaccurate records for use in legal proceedings. •Abilitytoestablishandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswithassociatepersonnel,thegeneral public, various departments and agencies. •Demonstrated capacity to communicate with supervisors and other staff members. •Abilitytodealdiplomaticallyinadversesituations;includingtheabilitytosecurefacts,document information, evaluate data and draw valid conclusions. •Abilitytoexplaindepartmentalprocedurestocustomerstofacilitatezoningcompliance;directscustomers to appropriate divisions for requested services. •Abilitytocompile,organize,prepare,andmaintainanassortmentofrecords,reportsandinformation. Ability to use independent judgment. •Abilitytoworkunderaminimumdegreeofstressrelatedtodutiesthatrequireconstantattentiontodetail and tight deadlines. •Knowledgeofzoningregulationsandotherapplicablelaws,rules,andordinances. Knowledge Of Methods Of Land Descriptions. •Knowledgeoflegalcodes,courtprocedures,precedentcases,executiveorders,etc. Knowledge of the terminology used within the department.
