Collaborates with authors to ensure that work products present data and complex information clearly, logically, and concisely. •May have primary responsibility for writing a work product. Conducts appropriate research and coordinates with and receives input from applicable staff. •Devises and encourages different data visualization methods or approaches to present data or complex information in easy-to-understand format for readers, e.g., infographics, tables, and figures. Ensures that content may be made Section 508 accessible. Works with graphics resources as appropriate. •Serves as a resource within the OIG regarding plain-language standards, current English-usage standards, and established editorial style. May develop or contribute to policies, procedures, guidance, or manuals on topics such as report writing, grammar and style, graphics, and web communications and train OIG staff on these initiatives. •Works to ensure appropriate technology and software are used to improve editing and publishing processes. •Coordinates the flow of work products from the OIG to the Print Shop or private vendors and ensures publications are published as designed. Provides guidance on the OIG’s requirements for printed products. •Establishes and/or adheres to schedules for completing phases of work products, e.g., draft and final documents, and ensures deadlines are met. Qualifications: •In addition, at the FR-25 grade •, four years of specialized experience in technical editing and writing with increasing levels of responsibility is required. •This role requires strong analytical, writing, editing and proofreading skills to help teams develop report messages, negotiate and implement revisions, and produce error-free written products. •Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of staff and leadership. •Knowledge of graphic design and data visualization principles. •Interested candidates should submit a resume and a cover letter describing their interest in the position and how their experience aligns with the role. •Past performance evaluations may be requested. •Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain secret security clearance. The OIG’s telework policy requires employees to be physically present in the office full-time. Relocation assistance is not available.
