Supervision is exercised over other treatment plant personnel. Serves in the absence of the Operations Supervisor in cooperation with other specialists at the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility. •Core work hours are from 7AM - 3PM Monday through Friday. This position will also serve in a rotating on-call capacity in response to operational issues and fill in as needed for 12-hour operational shift vacancies. •This position is a "critical position" meaning you are required to report to work during adverse weather or other emergency situations, to maintain equipment, operate the facility and/or assist the Department in any capacity to continue Town operations. •This position will report to the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Plant located at 1400 Wimberly Road, Apex, NC 27523. •Anticipated Hiring Range: $76,232- $93,620. Applicants who possess relevant certifications and experience may be eligible for higher starting pay. •Primary duties are concentrated in residuals management – performs daily operations of the Residuals Facilities, monitors operation of clarifying/thickening processes, collects and analyzes samples, operates dewatering equipment, coordinates dewatered residuals hauling •Performs a variety of advanced daily water treatment operations duties •Functions in the absence of the Operations Supervisor in cooperation with other Specialists at the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility Qualifications: •Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of a two year Associate's Degree or higher in environmental sciences or related field and at least two years of experience in water treatment plant operations. Also requires prior experience leading or supervising others. •Requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. •Requires a minimum C-Surface Water Treatment Operator Certification. •Requires Grade I Physical/Chemical Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification or the ability to obtain within one year of hire. •Requires a Class A CDL within one year of hire. •Must live within fifty (50 miles) of the facility and respond within one (1) hour when fulfilling call-back/stand-by duties.
