Hiring: Training Specialist - Public Safety Company: Harborview Medical Center Location: Seattle, WA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 13:17:17 Employment Type: Full-time / On-site About the job Required Skills: •The UW Medicine - Department of Public Safety is a team of certified security professionals dedicated to promoting and maintaining hospital security and safety by enforcing rules and regulations to provide for the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and the facilities at UW Medicine hospitals and clinics. •Position is based at Harborview Medical Center •UW Medicine Primary Care Clinics •Training Program Administration and Coordination •Course Development •Use of Force Investigations and Training Oversight Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Education, Healthcare or related field •Four to Five years of experience training, mentoring, or leading security, law enforcement, military, or public safety personnel •Strong knowledge of healthcare security operations, use of force principles, and public safety training methodologies •Demonstrated capacity to develop curriculum and instructional materials •Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals in stressful or confrontational situations •Proficiency in report writing, training documentation, and presentation software •Demonstrated capacity to obtain and maintain instructor certifications relevant to assigned training disciplines •Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
