Required Skills: •Lead and support external contract construction crews to ensure safe and successful project execution. •Monitor daily field activities, providing oversight on safety, quality, productivity, and regulatory compliance. •Partner with contractors, internal stakeholders, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within established standards. •Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing safe work practices and addressing potential risks proactively. •Ensure construction and maintenance work meets company specifications, environmental requirements, and customer expectations. •Respond to operational challenges and help deliver reliable service with minimal interruption to customers. •Conduct field inspections, audits, and ongoing performance evaluations to drive continuous improvement. •What Makes This Role Exciting Qualifications: •High school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. •Job-related experience or knowledge acquired from 2+ years in the field of construction or military and history of progressively responsible experience in the construction field with preferred experience in the Utility Industry is required. •Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage on-site teams effectively. •Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering results. •Understanding of construction principles, equipment, work methods, the hazards associated with this work and ability to mitigate those hazards. •Knowledge of substation construction processes, contract management, and contractor oversight is preferred. •Demonstrated capacity to read and interpret project scopes of work, prints, specifications, schematics, and contract documents, be able to catch errors before they are made and develop effective solutions. •Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore) is a plus. •Demonstrated capacity to travel throughout the service territory, reporting to job-sites daily. Willingness to work extended hours when job requires and for system emergencies is required. •National Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring.
