Required Skills: •The LMA STCW Clerk and Sea Project Specialist will serve as liaison to maritime regulatory agencies and industry partners, processes federal credential and Merchant Mariner Credential applications for all LMA students, and administers documentation related to Sea Projects, sea service and the U.S. maritime industry. •Serves as liaison to MARAD, the USCG National Maritime Center (USCG NMC), and other applicable USCG Divisions in order to remain current with respect to applicable laws, USCG polices, and international treaties which apply to merchant mariner credentialing •Continuously seeks ways to improve the Academy's credentialing processes and ensure a positive rapport with: MARAD, USCG, and NMC. •Serves as liaison with Offshore, Towing and Ocean shipping companies, arranging for berths on designated vessels, arranging time and place to board, and providing required information on each cadet. •Obtains commercial berths for cadet sea projects, as well as, completes all logistics for cadets assigned sea projects. •Academy representative on USCG and MARAD working groups and required to maintain a working relationship with other maritime academy STCW Clerk/ Sea Project staff. •Coordinates all interactions with the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command including all logistics for annual recruiting visits. •Required to attend annual STCW Coordinator meeting at USCG National Maritime Center.
