Required Skills: •We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join Vero Biotech's Research & Development organization as a Senior Firmware/Algorithm Developer. •This individual will initially lead hands-on development of dosing algorithms and component characterization models for Vero Biotech's next-generation GENOSYL inhaled nitric oxide delivery platform. The role will develop, simulate, test, and mature algorithms in Python, then translate proven designs into production-quality C/C++ firmware. •This is an onsite position in Atlanta, GA •Develop complex open and closed loop dose delivery algorithms in Python using system, sensor, and characterization data; define algorithm behavior, operating limits, and performance metrics aligned with product requirements. •Develop, maintain, and improve characterization models for critical system components and interactions, including sensors, valves, motors, temperature control elements, and other electromechanical hardware. •Develop quick-turn test functionality, analysis scripts, simulation tools, and test rig capabilities that accelerate algorithm learning, tuning, and verification. •Plan and execute data-driven experiments; analyze test data, update models, quantify uncertainty, and assess algorithm and system performance against product requirements and acceptance criteria. •Interface directly with firmware boards and physical hardware; diagnose issues involving sensors, actuators, communications, timing, and control behavior; lead disciplined root cause investigations and corrective actions. Qualifications: •BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; MS preferred. •Strong Python development skills, including scientific computing, data analysis, model development, and automated test or analysis workflows. Experience with NumPy, SciPy, pandas, or comparable tools is preferred. •Strong embedded firmware development experience in C and/or C++, with demonstrated ability to convert prototype- or model-based algorithms into efficient, testable, maintainable production code. •Hands-on experience interfacing with sensors and electromechanical hardware such as valves, motors, temperature controllers, pumps, or similar devices; comfortable working with prototype systems and laboratory test equipment. •Strong debugging and test skills, including structured root cause investigation of software, electronics, sensors, controls, and physical system behavior. Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, or comparable tools is preferred. •Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively across controls, systems, firmware, electrical, mechanical, verification, quality, and regulatory teams. Ability and interest in growing into firmware technical leadership are required.
