Required Skills: •Lead actuarial analyses and provide strategic guidance for the Workers Compensation segment, ensuring alignment with profitability, growth, and portfolio management objectives. •Develop and maintain pricing analyses, rate indications, portfolio monitoring tools, and profitability assessments to support underwriting and business strategies. •Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Executive Management to identify risks and opportunities, evaluate business performance, and support strategic decision-making. •Monitor portfolio results, loss trends, claim development patterns, and underwriting performance to provide actionable recommendations that improve business outcomes. •Partner with Claims leadership to evaluate claim trends, severity drivers, and operational initiatives that impact Workers Compensation performance. •Provide actuarial support for business planning, forecasting, reinsurance evaluations, and other strategic initiatives affecting the Workers Compensation portfolio. •Clearly communicate actuarial analyses, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management and executive leadership. •Present findings and recommendations in meetings and strategic discussions, translating complex actuarial concepts into practical business considerations. Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field. •Minimum of 8-10 years of actuarial experience, with a strong emphasis in Workers Compensation. •Demonstrated experience in Workers Compensation pricing, reserving, or portfolio management. •Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. •US Work Authorization required. Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future. •The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
