Hiring: Sr. Accountant, Annuities Company: Talcott Financial Group Location: Charlotte, NC Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 11:52:56 Employment Type: Full-time Target Skills & Keywords : Data Lake, HTML, Microsoft Excel, SQL About the job Required Skills: •Own assigned Retail Finance reconciliations from preparation through completion, including account certification, supporting documentation, exception analysis, and timely resolution of reconciling items. •Perform and support reconciliations in ARCS, including review of balances and transaction details, documentation of explanations, attachment of supporting evidence, and coordination of required approvals. •Reconcile Retail activity across source systems, the Data Lake, Oracle Financial Accounting Hub (FAH), subledgers, and the general ledger, as applicable to assigned processes. •Investigate data, mapping, timing, interface, and accounting differences; identify root causes; and coordinate follow-up with Finance, Accounting Operations, Actuarial, Operations, and Information Technology. •Actively facilitate and support U.S. GAAP and Statutory monthly, quarterly, and annual close for assigned Retail accounts and processes, including journal entries, account analysis, and financial reporting support. •Analyze Retail results and key financial variances, prepare clear explanations, and communicate significant items, risks, and open issues to management. •Maintain complete and audit-ready reconciliation support, including evidence of preparation, review, approvals, aging, and resolution of reconciling items. •Execute assigned internal controls and support the development and maintenance of control documentation, risk and control matrices, standard operating procedures, and process narratives. Qualifications: •Undergraduate degree in accounting required; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus. •Four or more years of accounting, finance, or audit experience, preferably within life insurance, annuities, reinsurance, or financial services. •Strong U.S. GAAP accounting foundation; familiarity with Statutory accounting and insurance or reinsurance concepts is preferred. •Solid functional working knowledge of Oracle ARCS or another enterprise account reconciliation platform is strongly preferred. •Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated ability to work with, validate, and synthesize large data sets; experience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL, or similar data tools is a plus. •Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. •Demonstrated capacity to manage competing priorities and meet close and project deadlines in a fast-paced environment. •Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain accounting or data issues to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders. •High level of initiative, accountability, and sound professional judgment, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
