Hiring: Senior Manager: FinOps and AI Consumption Company: Mayer Brown Location: Chicago, IL Job Posted Time: 2026-09-03 10:59:42 Employment Type: Contract / Hybrid Target Skills & Keywords : AWS, Azure, CV, GCP, LLM, Microsoft Office, Project Management About the job Experience: •7+ years in FinOps, cloud financial management, or technology finance; FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) required or willingness to obtain within the first 180 days •Applied hands-on capability in at least one major cloud cost management platform (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing); multi-cloud experience preferred •Solid functional working knowledge of how AI/LLM providers price and bill consumption (token-based pricing, context-window cost dynamics), or clear evidence of the technical aptitude to build that fluency quickly. Hands on exposure to AI platform costs (e.g., Copilot, OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI) •Strong financial modeling skills and comfort building scenario models that others (Pricing, Finance) will rely on directly •Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Finance and Pricing teams, translating technical cost data into commercially usable terms Required Skills: •Own cost governance, forecasting, and chargeback (if implemented) across the firm's full cloud estate •Manage rightsizing, reserved/committed-use capacity, and vendor rate optimization as cloud usage grows with the firm's data and AI footprint •Establish tagging and attribution standards so cost can be tied to business unit, practice group, and eventually matter •Build and maintain a working model of token and inference cost across the firm's AI providers and platforms (Harvey, Copilot, Microsoft Legal Agent, Azure AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, and future platforms) •Track cost-per-workflow and cost-per-matter for AI-enabled work, broken out by model used, task type, and volume of consumption •Maintain broad, current knowledge of the AI model landscape - cost structures, context-window pricing, agent/tool-call cost multipliers, and the cost/performance tradeoffs between models Advise on the cost implications of model selection and workflow design •Monitor how vendor pricing models are evolving (token-based, seat-based, hybrid) and assess what each means for the firm's cost exposure as usage scales •Partner directly with Pricing to translate workflow and matter-level AI cost data into inputs they can use to price services, structure AFAs, and evaluate consumption-based contract terms Qualifications: •May require travel to other offices as needed •The above is a general description of the essential duties associated with this position and does not represent an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all duties. •The Firm may modify and amend this job description at any time at its sole discretion.
