Senior Engineering Manager, Outcomes
Hinge Health - San Francisco, CA
Hiring: Senior Engineering Manager, Outcomes Company: Hinge Health Location: San Francisco, CA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-13 11:43:37 Employment Type: Remote Target Skills & Keywords : Data Pipeline, HIPAA, Phoenix, React Native About the job Experience: •3+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ engineers in a product or platform engineering environment Required Skills: •Pain reduction isn't a vanity metric at Hinge Health — it's the mission. The Outcomes pod owns the member-facing surfaces that make clinical progress visible (pain logging, health assessments, outcomes visualization) •Build trusted partnerships with your PM, Data Scientist, and cross-neighborhood engineering leads. Understand the full stack — from the React Native client (phoenix) through phoenix-bff to assessment-service — and complete your first code reviews and PR merges. •Audit the current Assessment Service roadmap, catalog inbound requests from partner pods (Migraine, Perisurgical, Enrollment), and establish a transparent prioritization framework that balances internal roadmap with external partner needs. •Immerse yourself in the team's experimentation culture: review active A/B tests on pain logging cadence and member engagement, and set expectations for rigorous go/no-go criteria going forward. •Ship at least one experiment that demonstrably moves a core clinical metric — pain reduction, survey engagement, or PSFS improvement — and build the analytical discipline so results are trusted org-wide. •Define and publish contribution patterns for the Assessment Service so partner pods can extend the platform without creating bottlenecks, reducing ad-hoc cross-team coordination overhead. •Deepen the pod's AI-native development practices — expanding use of autonomous agents, CI-enforced harness engineering patterns, and developer tooling that increases engineering throughput. •In your first year Qualifications: •A builder who stays close to the code. You're a hands-on engineering leader (~15% IC time) who reviews PRs, contributes architecture input, and earns trust through technical credibility — not just org-chart authority. You embody Hinge Health's Lead at All Levels principle. •A systems thinker with product instincts. You can reason across service architecture, data modeling, and client-side UX tradeoffs — and you know when a platform decision will ripple across a dozen downstream consumers. •An experiment-minded operator. You don't just ship features; you design bets, define success criteria, and hold the team accountable to outcomes. You exemplify Hustle — measuring yourself by results and impact, not actions or good intentions. •A cross-functional partner. You communicate clearly across engineering, clinical, data science, and product teams to align on shared goals — demonstrating Effective Communication and Accountability. •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field •Full-stack or backend-heavy engineering background, with the ability to reason about service architecture, data modeling, and client-side UX tradeoffs •Track record of running experiments and reasoning about outcomes metrics — not just shipping features •Clinical or Health Data Experience: Familiarity with PROMs, clinical outcomes measurement, or regulated health data (HIPAA); ability to partner credibly with clinical stakeholders on what to measure and how •Assessment or Survey Systems: Experience building or operating structured data collection systems — survey flows, configurable templates, response validation, and downstream data pipelines •Server-Driven UI / Configurable Layouts: Familiarity with SDUI patterns for forms and assessment experiences; bonus if in a mobile context Compensation: •$240,000 - $360,000 / year Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
