Hiring: Senior Electric Rates Analyst (JC-531870) Company: California Public Utilities Commission Location: Los Angeles County, CA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-12 14:34:50 Employment Type: Full-time / Hybrid About the job Required Skills: •Analyzing historical and projected electricity rate and bill trends and the underlying drivers of those trends. •Evaluating how utility costs, rate structures, electricity usage, and emerging technologies affect different customers and customer groups. •Developing and assessing policy options to improve electricity affordability and support California’s energy transition. •Examining whether electric rates appropriately support electrification, efficient electricity use, load flexibility, and investment in distributed energy resources. •Conducting quantitative analysis of utility filings, customer usage and billing data, cost forecasts, and other energy-sector data. •Developing analytical frameworks, metrics, and tools to support Commission decision-making on rates and affordability. •Preparing reports, recommendations, briefings, and other work products for senior CPUC decision-makers. •Collaborating with other Energy Division teams, utilities, consumer advocates, industry participants, and other state agencies on cross-cutting rate and affordability issues. Qualifications: •Describe your ability to manage complex projects involving technical policy research and analysis. •Describe your quantitative reasoning, spreadsheet, and/or modeling skills, and the ability to effectively interpret and analyze data and modeling results. •Describe your experience preparing for and delivering presentations, briefings, or other informational sessions to decision makers or stakeholders.
