Hiring: Senior Controls Designer Company: ON.energy Location: Houston, TX Job Posted Time: 2026-09-11 13:17:34 Target Skills & Keywords : AutoCAD, PLC About the job Required Skills: •Develop and maintain electrical panel layouts and control panel designs for Battery Systems, UPS, and EMS products •Create and revise electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical •Generate and maintain BOMs directly from schematics, ensuring accuracy between design and procurement data •Partner cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and mechanical engineers to incorporate design changes and resolve interferences •Support drawing standardization, symbol libraries, and title block/template consistency across projects •Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineering and manufacturing •Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing on panel build questions and drawing clarifications •Maintain revision control and documentation standards across schematic packages Qualifications: •7 plus years of control panel design experience, carrying complete drawing packages from concept through released production revision •Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN P8, including symbol libraries, project templates, and device tagging schemes •PLC and I/O hardware design: I/O lists, module and rack selection, I/O allocation, 24VDC power budgeting, fusing and distribution, analog signal conditioning, shielding and grounding •Network interface drawings: Ethernet and Modbus TCP topology, fiber and copper runs, managed switch and port assignments, IP address schedules, panel to panel communications •Wiring detail: terminal block schedules, wire numbering conventions, cable and conduit schedules, interconnect and field wiring diagrams •Component database management: part numbering, manufacturer and vendor data, obsolescence tracking, revision history •Applied familiarity with NEC (NFPA 70) for panel, feeder, and overcurrent protection decisions, conductor sizing, and enclosure choices •Practical UL 508A knowledge: SCCR determination and documentation, listed and recognized component selection, spacing and clearance, wire bending space, field wiring terminal markings •Emergency stop and safety circuit design: dual channel monitored wiring, safety relay selection, NFPA 79 and ISO 13849 awareness, monitored contactors, reset logic •Operational familiarity with switchgear interfaces: breaker close and trip control circuits, CT and PT wiring, 125VDC control power, interposing relays, permissives, interlocks Compensation: •Competitive salary + annual performance-based bonus eligibility Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
