T he Senior Cabling Installation Technician primary responsibilities include directing and leading a crew, as well as participating in the installation of premise network cabling systems at stateside and overseas offices. •Perform the installation, labeling and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit and associated hardware. •Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required. •Serve as the subject matter expert in reading and interpreting system installation drawings and design packages. •Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices. Qualifications: •Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance. •Demonstrated capacity to travel as needed to meet project requirements. •A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants is required. •Be highly proficient in the installation and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware. •Must be proficient in the techniques for fusion splicing, termination and outside plant installation. •Understand how to interpret work orders and prints to determine what is required per project. •Be proficient in the use of splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS. •Be proficient in the proper handling and installation of LC, MTRJ, SC, RJ45 connector terminations, and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems. •Be proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches. •Possess experience with access points, repeaters, data center, computer lab, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), direct access storage drive, mainframe, open systems and switches/routers.
