Hiring: Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting Company: Fervo Energy Location: Houston, TX Job Posted Time: 2026-09-12 13:22:05 Employment Type: Contract Target Skills & Keywords : Derivatives, Embedded Systems, Microsoft Excel About the job Experience: •3+ years of Big Four public accounting experience, or 5+ years of combined public accounting and industry experience with meaningful technical accounting exposure Required Skills: •General Accounting and Close Support •Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for assigned entities and accounts, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting support •Record and reconcile activity in complex areas, including debt, stock compensation, derivatives, leases, intercompany balances, and structured transaction accruals •Own the end-to-end lease accounting process, including operating the LeaseQuery system, recording associated journal entries, and actively participating in the relationship with the Land team and other lease stakeholders •Analyze financial results and balance sheet accounts, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies with cross-functional stakeholders •Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or standardize recurring accounting and close workstreams •Technical Accounting Research and Documentation •Draft technical accounting memos and position papers with oversight from the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, taking simpler matters to completion and growing into more complex topics Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field •Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research, document, and support accounting conclusions •Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with complex agreements, financial models, valuations, and large data sets •Demonstrated capacity to work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Operations, Commercial, external advisors, and auditors •High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple high-priority matters under tight reporting timelines •CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred •Big Four technical accounting, audit, advisory, or transaction accounting experience •Exposure to stock compensation, fair value, debt and warrants, derivatives, ASC 842 leases, tax equity, consolidations, or impairment analyses •SOX readiness and SEC reporting experience Compensation: •Exposure to stock compensation, fair value, debt and warrants, derivatives, ASC 842 leases, tax equity, consolidations, or impairment analyses Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
