Hiring: Senior Accountant Company: UHY-US Location: Carleton, MI Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 13:42:00 Employment Type: Hybrid Target Skills & Keywords : Microsoft Excel About the job Experience: •5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, a strong month-end close and general accounting foundation, and the ability to streamline and improve disjointed processes. •5+ years of progressive accounting experience required. Required Skills: •Independently own assigned accounting processes and general ledger areas following initial training and guidance. •Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other key components of the month-end close. •Perform detailed account and financial analysis, investigate variances, and provide insights to support business decisions. •Identify disjointed or inefficient accounting processes and act as a change agent to simplify, strengthen, and standardize workflows and controls. •Develop and maintain clear documentation of accounting processes, reconciliations, procedures, and key controls. •Partner with Finance and operational teams to resolve accounting issues and improve the accuracy and consistency of financial information. •Support systems enhancements, audits, process improvements, and other Finance initiatives. •Analyze large data sets and accounting information to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Qualifications: •4–5+ years of progressive accounting experience required. •Manufacturing or distribution experience required, with direct exposure to inventory and cost accounting. •Strong core accounting foundation, including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and US GAAP. •Prior public accounting experience is highly desirable. •Strong Excel proficiency, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and working with large data sets. •Demonstrated ability to evaluate disjointed processes and streamline, standardize, and improve accounting workflows. •Proven ability to act as a change agent and take ownership of process improvement initiatives. •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate variances and identify root causes. •Positive, curious, detail-oriented, and highly organized approach to accounting. •Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with Finance and operational teams.
