Hiring: Public Safety Officer Company: Ringling College of Art and Design Location: Sarasota, FL Job Posted Time: 2026-09-12 14:34:55 Target Skills & Keywords : REST, Workday About the job Experience: •Basic computer skills including entering data and sending/receiving e-mail and the ability to accurately type reports •Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate verbally. •Must be able to work a flexible schedule with irregular hours •Required: This position requires a Criminal and Motor Vehicle Background Check. Required Skills: •Patrols buildings, grounds and parking lots on the college. •Makes regular checks of doors, windows and gates to determine they are secure. •Enforces campus parking rules and regulations and issues parking citations when necessary •Records all information on incidents such as property damage, unusual occurrences, machinery or equipment malfunction for use by supervisory staff and various college administrators. •Prepares all necessary reports in a timely manner. •Warns violators of rule infractions and stops any activity determined to be illegal, unsafe or in violation of campus rules of conduct or policy and records those violations through Incident Reports •Watches for and reports through Incident Reports any irregularities such as safety hazards, leaking water pipes, lights left on and doors left unlocked. •Responds to and handles emergency situations; providing assistance as necessary including first aid and CPR. Qualifications: •Demonstrated capacity to perform public safety responsibilities in a professional and caring manner •Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively verbally and in writing including the completion of a variety of reports. •Demonstrated capacity to prioritize when dealing with multiple high priority situations. •Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality on all records, reports, and incidents that are investigated by the Office of Public Safety; as well as any other record and/or information that is accessible to the Office of Public Safety. •Strong interpersonal skills such as courtesy, listening, and dealing tactfully with a variety of personalities. •High school diploma or equivalent •Possess a valid Florida's Driver's license •Possess or be able to obtain certification in basic First Aid and CPR within 12 months •Possess or be able to obtain a Class D security officer license within 12 months Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
