Required Skills: •This is a very senior-level Electrical Design Engineer role serving as a technical leader within Insulet’s R&D organization. The position is responsible for guiding the design, development, and sustainment of complex, low-power RF-controlled wearable medical devices used in infusion pump systems. In addition to hands-on design responsibilities, this individual will provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members, driving best practices in circuit design, system integration, and verification. •The Principal Electrical Engineer will provide senior technical leadership for the design, development, sustaining, and lifecycle management of low-power, battery-operated medical device electronics, including Bluetooth-connected wearable products. This role requires deep expertise in analog, digital, mixed-signal, power management, PCB/PCBA design, BLE connectivity, and EMI/EMC/ESD compliance. The engineer will lead complex technical efforts from early concept through post-production support, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet medical device quality and regulatory requirements. •Key Responsibilities •Lead product sustaining and life-cycle engineering effort for current production products. •Take ownership of the electronics part of the product from early design stage all the way to post-production support. •Serve as a technical lead, mentor and a role model for junior engineers. •Act as a technical authority for electrical engineering disciplines including analog, digital, mixed-signal, power management, and wireless communications. •Propose and champion new ideas for product improvements. •Desing new and re-design existing low-power battery operating devices, including Bluetooth-connected wearable devices or similar wireless-enabled medical technology. •Architect, review, and approve Block Diagrams, Schematics, PCB Layout, and Bills of Material (BOM). •Define and execute EMI/EMC/ESD requirements and compliance test plans for the product, including defining and reviewing compliance pre-screening and test plans. •Design and execute BLE connectivity on-body characterization plan. •Lead root cause analysis for design and manufacturing issues at the PCB/PCBA and system level. •Ensure design and documentation comply with medical device quality system guidelines, including FDA design control guidelines, ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and IEC 62304. •Ensure smooth design transfer from R&D to Manufacturing and post-release support.
