Observes “Standard Precautions” during all patient contact, due to the large number of bloods drawn with blood-borne pathogens. •Observes patients while performing venipuncture for any sign of anxiety, light-headedness or fainting and reports to the nurse any signs of bleeding or abnormal conditions. •Collects finger sticks and other micro-volume samples that require specialized equipment and skillful techniques which may be different from routine sample processing. •Processes specimens by centrifuging, separating, measuring volume, and aliquoting according to standard operation procedures. •Follows all safety guidelines for the disposal of sharps as well as adheres to all patient isolation procedures. •Performs complex accession routines to match tests requested, to number and type of specimen tubes received, to properly account for all orders on the patient. •Instructs patients on procedures for proper collection of midstream, clean-catch urine specimens to prevent contamination of normal flora. •Participates in continuing education as needed to maintain competency in all job duties. Qualifications: •Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred. •The annual salary range for this position is $49,000.00-$81,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
