Hiring: Operational Technology Infrastructure Engineer | Johnson City Company: Vaco by Highspring Location: Johnson City, TN Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 13:50:45 Employment Type: Remote Target Skills & Keywords : DNS, GDPR, PLC, Root Cause Analysis, SCADA, VPN, Windows Server About the job Experience: •5+ years of experience supporting IT, OT, industrial networking, infrastructure, or utility environments Required Skills: •We are seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Infrastructure Engineer to support the design, deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of secure technology infrastructure within OT, industrial, utility, and critical infrastructure environments. •Design, deploy, configure, and support secure OT infrastructure and network architectures. •Deploy and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless, and cellular communications. •Install, configure, maintain, patch, and secure Windows Server and Workstation environments. •Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and related Microsoft infrastructure services. •Configure and support virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, vSphere, and Hyper-V •Design and support secure remote access and VPN solutions. •Support connectivity between SCADA, HMI, PLC, telemetry, alarming, and industrial automation systems Qualifications: •Strong experience with networking technologies including switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access •Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Windows Workstation, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy •Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis. •Demonstrated capacity to work independently while collaborating with technical, operational, project, and customer-facing teams. •Strong written and verbal communication skills. •Knowledge of OT cybersecurity and secure IT/OT integration. •Operational familiarity with technologies from Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Hirschmann or similar platforms. •Operational familiarity with OT cybersecurity and monitoring platforms such as Dragos, Nozomi, Claroty, or similar technologies •Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards applicable to industrial and utility environments.
