Assist in the development of investigational chemotherapy Beacon treatment plans in EPIC •Order review and verification of oncology clinical trials orders, including the review of protocol documents to ensure appropriateness based on current clinical, institutional, and protocol guidelines as well as patient-specific criteria •Oversee the safe handling, preparation, and dispensing of investigational medications •Ensure investigational medication orders comply with approved protocols •Check admixtures for accurate preparation, including the additive(s), parent solution, and label •Monitor investigational oncology treatment plans and study subjects’ place in therapy during the order review process and by following internal study instructions, and potential need for off-hours and weekend doses, ensuring supplies are available for infusion pharmacy staff •Oversee oncology clinical trials Pharmacy technicians and students, serving as a resource for inventory management activities, and overseeing special projects •Participate in the training and mentorship of new employees, students and residents Qualifications: •Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy •Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? •Pharmacist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration [MCSR - Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Department of Public Health preferred •Extensive knowledge and ability in all areas of the department including: IV Admixtures, Drug Information, Ambulatory, Manufacturing, and Drug Distribution. •Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span of the neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient Possess ability to assess patient data relative to age specific needs Provide care as described in the department's policies/procedures. •Participates in department quality improvement efforts. •Participates in the training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. •Must complete 20 continuing education credits per year to maintain license. •Operational familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
