Hiring: OceanWorks Senior Business Development & Partnerships Manager Company: Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Location: Woods Hole, MA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 13:45:01 Employment Type: Full-time / On-site Target Skills & Keywords : Project Management, Salesforce, WordPress About the job Experience: •10+ years of experience in business development, stakeholder engagement, project management, or related roles in a scientific, technical, or innovation-driven environment Required Skills: •This role operates with significant independence and is responsible for ensuring that projects, partnerships, and multi-party engagements are well-structured, aligned, and effectively supported over time, particularly in cases involving multiple stakeholders, funders, or interconnected activities. •Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer, this role works closely with Principal Investigators, OceanWorks staff, Communications, and external partners to expand WHOI’s engagement portfolio and strengthen long-term external relationships. •Business Development & Opportunity Leadership •Lead the identification, development, and advancement of external engagement opportunities with commercial and industrial partners •Translate WHOI scientific capabilities into structured partnership opportunities, including sponsored research, pilot projects, technical collaborations, and consortia •Define opportunity scope, value proposition, engagement approach, and potential deliverables in collaboration with researchers and leadership •Drive opportunities from initial concept through stakeholder alignment to project formation and launch •Build and maintain a pipeline of engagement opportunities aligned with OceanWorks priorities Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, environmental studies, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience •7–10+ years of experience in business development, stakeholder engagement, project management, or related roles in a scientific, technical, or innovation-driven environment •Demonstrated experience working closely with scientific or technical teams to develop externally funded projects or partnerships •Proven success in developing and advancing external relationships, partnerships, and/or funding opportunities •Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder efforts spanning internal and external participants •Strong ability to engage credibly with both scientific and external stakeholder audiences •Excellent communication, relationship management, and organizational skills •Demonstrated capacity to work independently with a high degree of initiative and accountability •Willingness and ability to work on-site at WHOI’s Woods Hole, MA campus •Master’s degree in a relevant field (science, business, environmental management, or related discipline) Compensation: •$128,560 - $168,003 / year •Competitive benefits and rewards package Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
