Hiring: NETWORK ENGINEER-ENTRY #00061761 Company: Missouri University of Science and Technology Location: Rolla, MO Job Posted Time: 2026-09-15 12:34:03 Employment Type: Remote Target Skills & Keywords : BGP, DNS, Perl, Python, TCP/IP, VPN About the job Required Skills: •Administer and maintain LAN, WAN, and Data Center operations and equipment to ensure maximum availability of the high-quality network resources currently provided to the campus community •Administer and maintain all wireless network equipment to ensure premium coverage and high availability to the campus community •Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of network infrastructure operations collaborating with the Network technicians in replacement and upgrading of network equipment. Review alerts and apply updates to network equipment when necessary •Install, configure, replace, and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and related network infrastructure •Perform network cabling and patching activities, including installation, replacement, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting of network connections •Provide support for network closets, data centers, and other network infrastructure locations, including equipment installation, organization, maintenance, and troubleshooting •Perform network port activation, configuration, modification, and troubleshooting in accordance with established standards and procedures •Maintain accurate equipment inventory, network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and other records related to network infrastructure Qualifications: •Demonstrated capacity to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in various positions while installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network equipment and cabling. •Demonstrated capacity to work in network closets, data centers, equipment rooms, and other areas that may require working in confined or limited-access spaces. •Demonstrated capacity to regularly lift, carry, move, and install network equipment, tools, cabling, and related materials weighing up to 50 pounds. •Demonstrated capacity to occasionally lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 80 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment as needed. •Demonstrated capacity to use ladders or lifts as necessary to install, maintain, and troubleshoot wireless access points and other network infrastructure. •Demonstrated capacity to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with cabling, patching, equipment installation, and use of hand tools. •Demonstrated capacity to work safely around electrical equipment, elevated equipment, cabling, and other conditions commonly found in network closets, data centers, and telecommunications spaces. •Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Availability may also include nights, weekends, and holidays. •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Network Administration. A combination of education and experience may be considered as a substitution: High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of directly related experience.
