Hiring: NASA Space Radiation Lab Associate Company: Brookhaven National Laboratory Location: Upton, NY Job Posted Time: 2026-09-17 02:27:28 Employment Type: On-site Target Skills & Keywords : R About the job Required Skills: •Interface directly with Ion Source and Main Control Room Operators (MCR) to prepare beam for experiments, tune and shape beam, archive, and calibrate beam •Deliver exposures and distribute run summaries to researchers •Daily recordkeeping of NSRL activities for NASA •Assist researchers in setting up and running equipment throughout the exposure time •Develop technical and research projects for NSRL •Maintenance of equipment used to monitor and control the beam •Communicate with MCR Operators and Ion Source Operators regarding accelerator performance •Respond to emergency situations, alarms, or occurrences based on standard operating procedures Qualifications: •Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Engineering or a related field. •At least three years' relevant experience in particle physics, nuclear physics or radiation physics •Clear and concise oral and written communication skills •Computing proficiency to include Excel spreadsheets •Demonstrated capacity to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, or weekends as business needs require, while typically maintaining a five-day workweek •Demonstrated capacity to work in a fast-paced environment •Master's Degree in Physics •Operational familiarity with Oscilloscopes, Ion Chambers, Photomultipliers, Lasers, Data Acquisition Systems •Demonstrated capacity to work well in a high stress environment •Good depth vision, distance and color Compensation: •$80600 - $91000 / year Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
