Hiring: Meterman Company: Liberty Location: South Lake Tahoe, CA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 12:15:03 Employment Type: Remote Target Skills & Keywords : SAP, Transformers About the job Required Skills: •Safety is a core value of our company, and no job is so important that it cannot be completed safely. •It is the responsibility of all employees to know, understand, and comply with all company safety policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. •Employees have a responsibility to stop and correct unsafe work practices and to refuse work when an unsafe condition exists. •Successfully completed a recognized Meter Technician/Meterman apprenticeship or possess equivalent training, knowledge, and experience required to perform journey-level metering work. •Possess sufficient working knowledge of electricity and electrical theory to use test equipment, meter data, and calculations to determine voltage, current, power, volt-amperes, power factor, reactive components, and other electrical characteristics. •Install, remove, exchange, program, test, calibrate, read, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot electric meters and associated metering equipment used for residential, commercial, industrial, generation, and specialized electric services. •Interface directly with advanced metering technologies, including Itron Riva Gen 5 smart meters, AMI communications, meter programming, configuration, diagnostics, event data, interval data, and meter communication status. •Perform and interpret applicable meter accuracy and diagnostic testing, including Full Load (FLS), Light Load (LLS), and Power Factor (PFS) testing, to verify proper meter operation and measurement accuracy. Qualifications: •High School Diploma or equivalent required. •Successful completion of a recognized Meter Technician/Meterman apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and journey-level metering experience. •Demonstrated journey-level knowledge of electric metering, electrical theory, meter testing, service configurations, and applicable electrical and utility standards. •Demonstrated capacity to read and interpret electrical diagrams, meter forms, service configurations, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, meter data, and company standards. •Demonstrated capacity to troubleshoot electrical, metering, and communications problems using appropriate diagnostic and test equipment. •Demonstrated capacity to perform assigned responsibilities safely, independently, efficiently, and accurately with limited supervision. •Demonstrated capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. •Ability and willingness to respond to emergency call-outs and work outside normal business hours when operationally required. •Demonstrated capacity to work outdoors year-round in Lake Tahoe conditions, including extreme cold, snow, ice, heat, wildfire smoke, uneven terrain, and high elevation. •Valid driver’s license required. CDL requirements should be based on the vehicles and equipment assigned to this classification.
