Hiring: Mechanical Estimator Company: Hoffman Construction Company Location: Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area Job Posted Time: 2026-09-03 14:26:24 Target Skills & Keywords : AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office About the job Required Skills: •Develop cost estimates for wet & process mechanical scopes of work. •Analyze project designs to determine more efficient products/methods that meet the project goals. •Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific category of change (defined by client). •Interface directly with subcontractors and equipment vendors to validate budgets. •Interpret construction drawings, technical manuals and quantifying materials required for construction. •On screen take-off of material quantities. •Write and publish meeting minutes. •Summarize quantities of materials in an orderly fashion. Qualifications: •A minimum of two (2) years’ construction estimating experience preferred. •Specific experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, water treatment, and/or hi-tech types of projects preferred. •LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months preferred. •High School diploma or GED required. •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required. •Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment more than 50% of the time, with occasional requirements to move about on the job site. •Must be able to access work being done on multiple levels. •Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. •The worker is required to have the ability to perform duties such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents. •Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment 5% of the time.
