Hiring: Mechanical Construction Project Engineer (Amarillo, Texas) Company: Diamond Peak Recruiting Location: Amarillo, TX Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 10:36:05 Employment Type: Full-time About the job Required Skills: •We are seeking a Mechanical Construction Project Engineer to support a high-profile Department of Energy project in Amarillo, Texas. •The ideal candidate has at least two years of construction or engineering experience, an engineering degree, and a strong interest in developing a long-term career in mechanical construction. •Actively facilitate and support project management team with the planning and execution of HVAC, mechanical piping, and sheet metal scopes. •Assist with project documentation, scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, and subcontractor coordination. •Review mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and contract requirements. •Prepare, submit, and track requests for information, submittals, change documentation, and material approvals. •Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel. •Track equipment and material procurement to ensure deliveries support the construction schedule. Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or a related engineering discipline. •At least two years of experience in construction, project engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. •Demonstrated capacity to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. •Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. •Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines. •Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. •Demonstrated capacity to work onsite in Amarillo, Texas. •Demonstrated capacity to satisfy all site-access, security, and employment requirements associated with a Department of Energy project. •Previous experience supporting government, industrial, manufacturing, data center, energy, or other highly regulated projects. •Operational familiarity with HVAC equipment, ductwork, sheet metal fabrication, hydronic piping, process piping, and mechanical system installation.
