Required Skills: •The Manager - Transportation & Public Works performs highly advanced and complex management or oversight activities for daily operations of the Public Works Maintenance Crews. Coordinates, administers, and manages department, operations, personnel activities, and budget. •Inspects, evaluates, and reviews work completed by crews and employees for quality and safety standards; provides training to new employees or crew leaders and ensures all permits are pulled and materials and equipment used professionally. •Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures production goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; oversees the planning, development, and operation of special projects or facilities. •Assists and supports the hiring process for employees and maintenance workers; attends and participates in job fairs and interview panels for new workers; evaluates staff and enforces disciplinary measures for field employees. •Provides quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers and responding to issues or concerns timely and professionally. •Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees; testifies at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings as appropriate. •Performs any and all other work as required or assigned. •Knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods used in various construction repairs. Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, or construction management field. •Availability for nights, weekends and holidays. •May be subject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) emergency call-out, inclement weather conditions and high-traffic areas. •High school diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. •An associate degree in any field plus six (6) yeas of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. •A bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-specified field plus six (6) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. •A master’s degree or higher in a specified field plus two (2) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. •Valid and current driver’s license with good driving record.
