Hiring: Live Safety Broadcaster Company: Citizen Location: New York, NY Job Posted Time: 2026-09-03 03:05:24 Target Skills & Keywords : SAFe About the job Required Skills: •Monitor live incident feeds, scanner audio, user video, and data streams across multiple markets. •Verify incidents fast and accurately: confirm what's real, flag what isn't, protect against panic and misinformation. •Author and send incident titles, updates, and push notifications that meet Citizen's editorial standards: lead with the live danger, keep users spatially aware, and prompt safe participation. •Coordinate with field creators, users going live, and partner responders to build a real-time picture of active scenes. •Hold the line under pressure: stay calm, clear, and accurate while a situation is still unfolding. •Broadcast live from the Mission Control studio during major incidents, narrating events in real time to a live audience of hundreds to thousands of users. •Deliver clear, credible, human commentary on camera: explaining what's happening, what's verified, what's still unknown, and how the community can safely help. •Drive live participation: prompt viewers to look around, go live, and contribute to a real-time "transparency zone" that aids the public and first responders. Qualifications: •A personality that comes through on camera. Warm, credible, watchable. People trust you and want to keep listening. •You know how to live stream. You're comfortable on camera, in the moment, unscripted, for extended stretches. •Social media savvy. You understand what makes live content land, how audiences behave, and how a moment travels. •Quick on your feet verbally. You can narrate a developing situation clearly and hold an audience while doing it. •Comfortable being a public face. This role is visible by design. •Sharp judgment under pressure. You stay calm when the situation isn't. •Fast, accurate, and detail-obsessed. You never upgrade a rumor into a fact. •Deeply mission-aligned. You understand that real people are on the other end of every incident, and you treat that with the seriousness it deserves. •There's no single path into this role, and no specific degree is required. We care far more about what you can do than where you learned it. Strong candidates usually come from one (or more) of these lanes: •Live broadcast / on-camera hosting: local news, weather, sports sideline, live event hosting, or live shopping. If you can talk fluidly and unscripted while things are moving, that's the skill.
