Required Skills: •Prepares (grosses) tissue specimens for processing, including fixation, dehydration, clearing, and embedding in paraffin wax. •Operates tissue processors and embedding centers. •Utilizes a microtome to cut thin sections of tissue from paraffin blocks in accordance with quality requirements and mounts sections onto slides appropriately. •Prepares slides for staining and performs routine staining using both automated and manual methods. •Maintains accurate records of all procedures performed, ensuring traceability and compliance. •Adheres to strict safety protocols and maintains a clean, organized laboratory environment. •Performs routine maintenance and quality control checks on laboratory equipment and reagents. •Works primarily on routine, transactional assignments guided by established policies, procedures, guidelines, and precedent. Qualifications: •Associate’s degree in Histology, Medical Technology, Basic Science, or a related field, required. •Current New York State license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Histological Technician, required. •Previous experience in a histology laboratory, preferred. •0–1 years of technical experience required.
