An equivalent combination of education and networking experience will be considered. Required Skills: •Installing, configuring, and maintaining network system software •Working with the team to define and implement best practices and standards within the organization •Diagnosing network operational problems quickly and efficiently •Maintaining and improving network performance and health metric collection and monitoring •Analyze the performance and health metrics to proactively avoid future problems, fix current problems, and aid in capacity planning •Ensuring that appropriate security measures are built into the network, that these security measures meet the performance needs of the center, and that they are maintained in future modifications •Coordinate with cyber security staff to provide appropriate data for intrusion detection •Participate in on-call rotation, responding to critical incidents 24 hours, 7-day support and off hour maintenance windows Qualifications: •BS degree in computer science or closely related field and 5+ years of experience in network engineering and administration. An equivalent combination of education and networking experience will be considered. •Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, operating system fundamentals, and their interaction with each other. •Advanced knowledge of the development, implementation, and review of technical network and security requirements. •An in-depth knowledge of standards governing both TCP/IP and Ethernet. •Solid functional working knowledge of packet capture and analysis tools •In-depth knowledge of the systems of the network, their function, and the risks that they present. •Familiarity and experience with basic scripting—including Perl, Expect, Python. •Demonstrated capacity to plan, coordinate, prioritize tasks, and complete assigned projects with minimal direction. •Good interpersonal and communication skills. •Demonstrated capacity to work as a standout colleague.
