Hiring: Experienced Fire Protection Engineer Company: Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Location: Aiken, SC Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 16:22:54 About the job Required Skills: •Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include •Specifying technical aspects of fire protection systems to ensure Life Safety compliance •Performing building walkdowns to assess for compliance according to Department of Energy standards •Mentoring and providing direction to less senior engineers within the organization •Scoping technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems. •Utilizing SRNS systems and meeting SRNS requirements with minimal supervisory guidance. •Accepting complex tasks and receiving minimal guidance from senior professionals. •Incorporating conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field •Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered with qualification as a Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE 1 or 2) •We'd Also Like to See •Degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering. •Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques within Fire Protection Engineering. •Solid functional working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
