Hiring: Equipment Operator I (Code Compliance - Civil Service) Company: City of Dallas Location: Dallas, TX Job Posted Time: 2026-09-17 02:11:08 About the job Experience: •Three (3) years of experience operating light to medium equipment (e.g., backhoe, roto boom, front-end loaders etc.) used in excavation, construction, utility, landfill and/or street sweeping operations. Required Skills: •Operates light equipment with variety controls used in the construction and maintenance of City of Dallas facilities and utilities, controls machinery used in construction and/or maintenance of City’s facilities. •The Equipment Operator I operates light construction equipment for construction and maintenance of City of Dallas facilities and utilities. Carries out minor repairs and reports to Supervisor or Crew Leader of major repairs. •Drives truck and trailer rig to transport earth moving or other medium to large sized automotive equipment to job site; adheres to safety standards and regulations. •Loads, transports, and unloads materials such as sand, flexbase, asphalt, gravel, and other construction materials from City stockpiles or vendors to City locations to supply construction or maintenance projects. •Performs minor mechanical repairs and maintenance procedures on construction equipment to maintain equipment in operating condition. •Cleans material storage areas, construction sites, and public streets with light to moderate equipment to maintain or improve appearance of the site. •Completes daily report of activities performed to document progress and provide supervisors with the knowledge needed to best allocate resources. •Performs other work as required or assigned. Qualifications: •Texas Driver's License and good driving history. •Commercial Driver’s License Class B. •Commercial Driver’s License Class A and Texas Commission of Environmental Quality License preferred. •Applicants with a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), issued by a state other than Texas, must obtain a Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within ninety (90) days.
