Hiring: Energy Program Manager Company: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Location: Sterling, VA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 14:13:06 Employment Type: Contract Target Skills & Keywords : Program Management, Project Management About the job Required Skills: •Reviews and analyzes IAD or DCA energy consumption in an effort to develop strategies for reducing energy usage and costs. •Works across all divisions, departments, and organizations in a collaborative and proactive manner, utilizing existing and new energy-efficient technologies. •Presents alternative procurement and operational strategies to minimize cost and maximize service reliability and makes recommendations to senior management for approval. •Provides technical support to the Utilities, Electrical Services and Equipment Maintenance Divisions for the continuing operation, maintenance, and repair of essential utilities/equipment for IAD or DCA. •Reviews operations over five-year and longer planning periods and provides technical advice and assistance in matters of design and redesign of mechanical and electrical systems. •Reviews specifications and design documents of utility, electrical, and mechanical systems for new construction, proposed changes or modifications of existing facility systems, and any major repairs. •Documents recommendations and concerns and forwards to responsible Planner, Project Engineer, Division Manager(s), and Department Manager(s). •Plans and submits project recommendations that address existing or future requirements. Qualifications: •An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. •Knowledge of and skill in interpreting legal and regulatory requirements related to energy management, including those of as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and US Department of Energy. •Skill in inspecting utility operations and procedures for maintenance and repair work and in reviewing engineering needs and proposals. •Demonstrated capacity to perform detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations. •Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English to understand and communicate safety requirements and operational information while performing work in the Airport Operations Area (AOA). •Skill in using a computer and modern office suite software, with emphasis on engineering systems/software. •Certification as a Certified Energy Manager from a certification program accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). •Knowledge and experience in Reliability Engineering relating to physical assets. •A bachelor’s degree in any field. •A state driver’s license in good standing.
