Hiring: Division Director - Adult Probation Company: Pima County Location: Tucson, AZ Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 14:08:21 Target Skills & Keywords : Project Management About the job Required Skills: •This position will remain open until filled. •A master's degree from an accredited college or university (Supreme Court Order # 2003-92) with a major in the field of behavioral science or a closely related field and five years of professional experience in probation, including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in probation. •OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Supreme Court Order # 2003-92) and seven years of professional experience in probation, including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in probation. •Typically performs duties in an office environment and may lift materials and/or equipment 20 lbs or less. Qualifications: •Demonstrated competence in leadership and supervisory practices, including employee development, team building, and the effective administration of division budgets, programs, and operational activities. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with judges, court staff, administrators, detainees and their families, community agencies, and the general public. •Knowledge of evidence-based practices, risk and needs assessments, and community-based supervision strategies. •Strong background in employee coaching, performance management, and succession planning. •Important Notice Regarding Multiple Applications •Once a candidate formally accepts a job offer with Superior Court, Juvenile Court, or Justice Court (Tucson and Ajo), all other active applications within these courts will be inactivated. •Plans, oversees, and directs the professional services of a division within the probation department. •Plans, assigns, supervise, and evaluate the work of unit supervisors, professional and support staff. •Oversees the recruitment, selection, training, performance, and evaluation of the division staff. Establishes goals and objectives for unit supervisors and conducts performance appraisals. •Advises supervisors on personnel matters related policy and procedure interpretation, employee counseling, probationer supervision and workload issues.
