Hiring: Dispatch Manager Company: Delrecruiters, We specialize in placing management level candidates up through C-Level Executives Location: Totowa, NJ Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 18:32:21 About the job Experience: •4+ years of experience in trucking, courier, last-mile delivery, transportation, or a comparable logistics operation. •2 years of experience directing drivers, dispatchers, or transportation personnel •Minimum 2 years of experience directing drivers, dispatchers, or transportation personnel Required Skills: •Direct and dispatch drivers throughout the NYC 5 boroughs (a must), and CT using Xcelerator TMS and Verizon Connect fleet-tracking technology. •Monitor daily routes and proactively identify late pickups, missed delivery windows, at-risk stops, and other service exceptions before they affect the customer. •Ensure drivers accurately record stop delays, pickups, deliveries, proof of delivery (POD), and other required information in real time to support accurate billing and reporting. •Determine driver and vehicle assignments, route adjustments, load sequencing, and other operational changes necessary to maintain service levels. •Resolve real-time transportation issues including traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, dock delays, site-access problems, misroutes, delivery restrictions, and customer/site coordination. •Communicate directly with drivers, customers, site contacts, warehouse leadership, and management to resolve issues quickly and maintain delivery schedules. •Coordinate with warehouse leadership on load sizing, sequencing, and truck requirements to ensure outbound vehicles are properly prepared. •Plan and organize the following day's operation, including dock appointments, delivery windows, security requirements, driver assignments, and scheduling priorities. Qualifications: •Strong knowledge of the New York 5 boroughs/New Jersey/Connecticut Tri-State area •, including commercial vehicle restrictions, traffic patterns, routing challenges, and time-sensitive Manhattan deliveries. •Solid functional working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements •, including Hours of Service, driver qualification requirements, vehicle inspection procedures, and general transportation compliance. •And fleet telematics/tracking platform. Experience with Xcelerator and Verizon Connect is preferred but not required. •Strong operational judgment and the ability to make sound decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment. •Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple drivers, routes, customer issues, and operational priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. •Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to establish credibility with both drivers and senior management. •Demonstrated ability to hold drivers accountable while maintaining productive working relationships. •Flexibility to remain reachable outside standard business hours when operational issues require attention.
