Required Skills: •The litigation attorney will defend the company and litigate various types of cases in both state and federal court, as well as arbitrations and small claims matters. •This includes conducted various aspects of litigation functions. •The purpose of this position is to reduce the amount of cases referred to outside counsel in order to effectuate cost savings to the company.. •Draft pleadings and motions to be filed with the court which will defend the company's position on various legal issues (these tasks may occur at anytime during the course of litigation). •Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, medical providers, and experts (these tasks may occur at anytime during the course of litigation). •Provide periodic updates to our P&I clubs regarding the status of cases and provide legal advice on how to proceed with the litigation and strategy (this requires an initial summary of the case and completion of case management questionnaires). •Routinely make decisions concerning the management of litigation files such as who needs to be deposed, what motions need to be filed, what records need to be obtained, and ultimate strategy on what is best for the company based on the development of the case. •Conduct mediations in order to resolve cases and reduce the company's liability (this task is typically completed after certain depositions and discovery have been completed, but may be done earlier depending on the Court's order).
