Required Skills: •The Diabetes Educator is a licensed health care professional responsible and accountable for providing diabetes education in the outpatient settings and through community and professional education services. Qualifications: •Graduation from accredited program for specific field of health care professional. (Dietitian) •Minimum of three years clinical experience preferred. •Additional diabetes education experience highly preferred (inpatient and/or outpatient setting) •Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) strongly preferred. •Applicants are encouraged to successfully complete the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification examination within 6 months of obtaining the required experience hours and not to exceed 2 years from date of hire. •Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. •Certification in Lifestyle Management, Stress Management or Weight Management is encouraged.
