This executive-level position works closely with the Director to lead and coordinate the City's multi-modal transportation system, including highway, aviation, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and utility networks. •The Deputy Director provides broad management oversight for several critical DOTE functions, including Traffic Services; Development, Permits and Urban Design; Aviation; and departmental administrative support services •Assists the Director in establishing and implementing departmental goals, objectives, policies, programs, and priorities. •Develops and monitors annual operating and capital budgets. •Provides oversight of capital improvement programs and major transportation projects. •Coordinates with City departments, governmental agencies, utilities, consultants, City Council and its offices, community councils, and other external stakeholders. •Provides leadership in addressing complex transportation, infrastructure, development, and operational issues. Qualifications: •Must be an excellent communicator and team builder. •May require specific industry mandated or related certifications. •A criminal background investigation will be conducted for this position (according to Civil Service Commission Rule 15 - Sensitive Classifications/Positions and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2001 and the Patriot Act).
