One project might involve integrating an external API; another could mean redesigning a warehouse model, replacing an ageing workflow or investigating a data-quality issue. •You’ll work closely with the people using your systems, understand their needs and make informed decisions about reliability, performance and cost. You’ll remain responsible for your components once they’re live. •Turn fragmented data into well-structured, usable datasets. •Develop Python services and workflows that are straightforward to test, maintain and support. •Improve warehouse design and SQL performance as usage grows. •Replace older integrations with consistent engineering approaches. •Build checks that identify missing, delayed or inconsistent data. •Help teams discover and understand the information available to them. Qualifications: •Three years of commercial data engineering experience •, with examples of systems you’ve built and supported in production. •Are central to the role. You should be comfortable discussing how you structure code, model data, test changes and diagnose performance problems. •We’re also looking for experience with cloud data infrastructure and workflow orchestration. You don’t need an exact match to the technology stack, but you should understand the trade-offs between different storage and processing approaches. •You’ll be able to ask good questions, explain decisions clearly and work through requirements with non-engineering colleagues. •AWS, Snowflake, dbt and Prefect •, alongside messaging, caching and time-series technologies. Experience with alternatives is welcome. •Exposure to Docker, Terraform or Python API development would be useful. •What makes this role interesting •You’ll own meaningful parts of a platform, learn from senior engineers and see your work used directly across the business.
