Hiring: Critical Facility Engineer Company: Meta Location: Richmond, VA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-09 17:58:21 Employment Type: Full-time Target Skills & Keywords: Data Center Operations, Critical Facilities, Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, Controls, Building Management Systems, Fire Protection, Cooling Technologies, Electrical Generation, Electrical Distribution, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Hexagon, Preventive Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Vendor Management, Emergency Response, Safety Compliance, Uptime, AI Tools Integration Experience: - 6+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance field - Associate's degree in engineering plus 4+ years experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 2+ years experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls will be considered in lieu of 6+ years experience - Experience across a broad range of industries such as electrical generation, electrical distribution, cooling technologies, building control, and fire protection systems Required Skills: - Hands-on operations and maintenance of critical data center systems - Completing work order requests accurately and on time in an enterprise asset management (EAM) system (Hexagon) - Achieving and maintaining a high level of technical knowledge regarding data center infrastructure and operations - Completing Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) training - Providing technical expertise and assistance as required - Responding quickly to data center facility emergencies using standard or emergency operating procedures - Inspecting equipment, buildings, safety routes, and grounds to identify abnormal or unsafe conditions or faults - Troubleshooting, evaluating, and recommending system upgrades - Ordering parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs - Working with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with processes, procedures, and standards - Escalating issues to facility management appropriately and in a timely manner - Assisting in scheduling and supervising vendors/subcontractors during equipment and systems maintenance - Recommending improvements to the operations and maintenance program - Working on a shift schedule, which may include nights and holidays - Utilizing computerized tooling in a control room environment to operate remote equipment, monitor system alerts, centralize communications, diagnose faults, and prioritize dispatching of resources - Physical requirements: use of hands and fingers; reach/push/pull with arms/hands/shoulders; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift and/or move 45 pounds or more; sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods Qualifications: - Minimum qualifications as listed above - Preferred: Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) - Preferred: Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) - Preferred: Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Compensation: - Base pay range: $88,005.00/yr - $124,010.00/yr - Actual pay will be based on skills and experience Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
