Hiring: Chief Data Officer Full Time Company: National Integrative Health Location: West Des Moines, IA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-16 21:53:54 Employment Type: Full-time / Hybrid Target Skills & Keywords : Azure, Data Warehouse, HIPAA, Revenue Cycle Management, Risk Management About the job Required Skills: •Define and own NIH’s target-state data architecture, including source systems, integration patterns, data warehouse or lakehouse design, and master data management. •Establish the roadmap that moves NIH from its current state to that target state, sequenced against business priorities. •Set standards for data modeling, naming, documentation, and metadata across the organization. •Serve as NIH’s designated HIPAA security official under 45 C.F.R. § 164.308(a)(2), and coordinate with the privacy official on policies governing protected health information. •Develop and implement data governance policies, including access management, data classification, retention, minimum necessary standards, and audit logging. •Own the risk analysis and risk management processes required under the HIPAA Security Rule, and maintain the associated documentation. •Oversee business associate relationships from a data standpoint, including vendor security review and the technical requirements flowed down through business associate agreements. •Lead data due diligence on acquisition targets and own the integration plan for acquired entities’ systems and data. Qualifications: •Ten or more years in data architecture, data engineering, or data leadership, including at least three years with accountability for an enterprise data environment. •Direct experience with protected health information and demonstrated working knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and HITECH. •Healthcare data experience across two or more of the following: pharmacy, medical claims, eligibility and enrollment, clinical, or revenue cycle. •Demonstrated experience building a data environment from an early or fragmented state, rather than only operating a mature one. •Demonstrated experience directly managing and developing a technical team, including hiring and performance management. •Demonstrated capacity to communicate credibly with an executive team and to translate technical constraints into business terms. •Operational familiarity with pharmacy procurement, 340B, or specialty pharmacy data. •Advanced degree in health informatics, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of credentials and experience. •Relevant certification such as CISSP, HCISPP, CHPS, or a comparable healthcare privacy or security credential. •This is an opportunity to define an enterprise data function from the ground up, with executive sponsorship and a clear mandate, at a company in an active growth and acquisition phase.
