Hiring: Central Sterile Processing Associate Company: UPMC Location: Pittsburgh, PA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-14 13:34:06 Target Skills & Keywords : Assembly About the job Experience: •High school diploma/GED or equivalent with no experience OR Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing program (preferred) OR 1 year of experience within UPMC Required Skills: •Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments manually and mechanically •Assemble surgical trays and set up case carts per procedure requirements •Monitor and document sterilizer parameters; troubleshoot equipment •Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage and distribution •Follow infection control, safety, and sterile processing protocols •Communicate effectively with team members and other departments •Participate in performance improvement and educational programs •Demonstrate accountability, time management, and healthy work habits Qualifications: •Grandfathered technicians (no certification): Must complete 10 hours of continuing education annually to remain qualified. •Certified staff: Must complete 10–12 hours of continuing education annually, as required by the certifying body. •Staff pending certification (within 18 months of hire): Continuing education not required until certification is obtained. •Must be able to stand for the entire shift. •Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 35 pounds. •Employees in a Central Sterile position on or before 12/27/2020 are grandfathered and do not need certification unless moving to a position that requires it. •Certification required for employees in PA and NY facilities (MD facilities are excluded). •New hires in PA and NY have 18 months from hire to obtain certification. •Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
