Required Skills: •Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. •Conduct regular patrols by foot, vehicle, or bike of the campus property, including academic buildings, residence halls, and grounds. •Monitor for and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or unauthorized access. •Check and secure buildings after hours; open and unlock buildings or rooms as assigned. •Report lighting and other facility issues to Facilities Management using appropriate work order systems. •Provide walking safety escorts and lockout assistance to members of the campus community. •Assist with traffic control, parking enforcement, and visitor guidance as needed. •Attend department meetings and training sessions as assigned. Qualifications: •High School Diploma or Equivalent •Required Experience 1 to 5 years experience, Area: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, emergency response, or a related field. •Required Certification(s) - Current certification in CPR and First Aid, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. •Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Smith College’s driving credential requirements. •Relevant experience in law enforcement, public safety, security, or emergency dispatching. •Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn and use new software. •Associate's Degree, Field: Criminal justice, emergency management, psychology, or a related field. •Preferred Certification(s:) Certifications in CPR, CJIS, or APCO. •Prior experience working in a college or university setting.
