Required Skills: •This role reports to the VP of Operations and is based at the Roadrunner Quantum Lab in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with regular travel to customer sites in the region and periodic travel to Maybell headquarters in Denver, CO. •Business Development & Market Growth •Build and own Maybell’s relationships across the New Mexico quantum ecosystem: national labs, universities, research consortia, startups, and state and federal programs. •Build and own a regional pipeline—new labs, new programs, and new groups within existing accounts—qualifying opportunities and working alongside Sales to close them. •Drive utilization of the RQL fleet: recruit researchers and teams to book time on the New Mexico systems, convert first-time users into recurring users, and use that access as a path to full-system sales. •Carry and forecast regional growth targets: track pipeline health, report progress to leadership, and own the number for your territory. •Represent Maybell at regional conferences, workshops, user groups, and site visits; run demos and technical briefings that translate capability into a concrete business case for the customer. •Partner with Marketing to turn regional work into content: customer stories, application notes, and technical talks. Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field. This role requires real technical fluency—a commercial background alone will not carry it. •3–7 years in a field applications, technical sales, business development, applications engineering, or technical account management role—including meaningful time owning customer relationships and commercial outcomes, not solely technical delivery. •Applied hands-on capability in cryogenic systems, dilution refrigerators, vacuum systems, or comparable precision laboratory hardware. •Genuine comfort on both sides of the role—troubleshooting hardware in the morning and briefing a lab director in the afternoon. •Demonstrated track record of opening new accounts, building partnerships, or growing a territory in a technical market. •Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialist stakeholders. •Demonstrated capacity to work independently as a remote, single-person site while staying tightly connected to a distributed team. •Based in New Mexico, or willing to relocate; able to travel regularly within the region. •Demonstrated capacity to obtain and maintain any clearances required for customer site access. •Existing relationships within the New Mexico or broader Southwest quantum and national-lab ecosystem—Sandia, Los Alamos, the University of New Mexico, or the state's quantum initiative.
