Hiring: Building Automation Controls Technician Company: Jobot Location: West Point, NY Job Posted Time: 2026-09-15 11:29:07 Target Skills & Keywords : Systems Integration, TCP/IP About the job Experience: •Previous experience working in Federal, DoD, military, or high-security facilities. •Lead Technician, Site Lead, Foreman, or other technical leadership experience. •BAS commissioning, retro-commissioning, and system optimization experience. •Operational familiarity with server environments, BAS networks, and industrial control system cybersecurity. •Physical & Work Requirements: This is primarily a field-based position supporting multiple facilities throughout a large campus environment. Work may take place in mechanical rooms, equipment spaces, occupied buildings, rooftops, and other indoor or outdoor locations. Required Skills: •Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain campus-wide BAS and energy management systems. •Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on controllers, sensors, actuators, control panels, operator workstations, servers, and related equipment. •Diagnose issues involving HVAC controls, VFDs, field devices, communication networks, and building mechanical systems. •Respond to service calls, system alarms, equipment failures, and occupant comfort issues. •Install, configure, program, and commission DDC controllers and associated field devices. •Update control sequences, graphics, schedules, trends, alarms, and system databases as needed. •Troubleshoot BAS networks and communication issues involving BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and TCP/IP. •Maintain controller backups, databases, system documentation, maintenance records, and service reports. Qualifications: •5+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems, DDC controls, HVAC controls, or Energy Management Control Systems. •Hands-on experience troubleshooting BAS and HVAC control systems in commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, higher education, government, or similar large facilities. •In-depth knowledge of HVAC equipment, control theory, sequences of operation, and mechanical systems. •Knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, LonWorks, TCP/IP, and related building automation communication protocols. •Demonstrated capacity to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation. •Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. •Demonstrated capacity to work independently, prioritize multiple service needs, and communicate effectively with customers and facility personnel. •Comfortable preparing service reports, maintenance documentation, and technical recommendations. •Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. •Demonstrated capacity to obtain and maintain required site access and security credentials.
