Hiring: Associate Data Scientist Company: MITRE Location: McLean, VA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-15 13:33:31 Employment Type: Internship / On-site Target Skills & Keywords : Change Management, MATLAB, Machine Learning, Python, Requirements Management, Security Clearance, Systems Design, Systems Engineering About the job Required Skills: •As an Associate Data Scientist, you will leverage and grow your analytical, mathematical, data science, and systems engineering expertise to support the analysis, design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and systems-of-systems, as well as mission analysis for federal agencies. •Using your understanding of data science, systems and mission engineering, quantitative methods, and an awareness of sponsor needs to determine areas where MITRE can have an impact •Applying modern methods and tools such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, and Mathematical Modeling to assess capability needs, requirements, architectures, designs, performance constraints and gaps, proposed changes, and verification and test approaches •Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures and approaches using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large trade-spaces and analyzing trade-offs •Identifying and developing metrics and analytical methods to measure and analyze relevant system and data properties, such as robustness, resiliency, interoperability, quality, and maintainability •Supporting requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes •Performing data analysis, modeling, and system design and development, including software development, systems modernization, and architecture •Supporting multiple tasks across several government-sponsored projects in a small- to large-team environment Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field •Operational familiarity with programming languages and analytical tools such as Python and MATLAB •Operational familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) concepts •Interest in complex, multi-disciplinary data and analytical problems •Willingness and ability to learn new tools and concepts in a variable environment of government sponsors •Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance.
