Hiring: Assistant Vice President for Environmental Health & Safety Company: Augusta University Location: Augusta, GA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-12 14:12:55 Employment Type: Full-time Target Skills & Keywords : Change Management, Microsoft Office, PHP, Regulatory Compliance About the job Required Skills: •Facilitate safe and compliant conduct of education, research, and at the University. •Articulate and champion a strategic vision for continuous improvement of university environmental health and safety programs, safety culture, and accident injury experience. •Harmonize environmental, health, and safety programs with the strategic aims of the University. •Lead, guide, and direct the University's environmental, health, and safety programs. •Recognize emerging safety issues and regulatory challenges and work to proactively and seamlessly prepare the University to address them. •Work cooperatively with government, industry, and the academic community to develop reasonable and cost-effective environmental health and safety legislation and regulation. •Interact with regulatory agencies on behalf of the University with respect to environmental, health, and safety requirements. •Promote environmental health and safety awareness among all faculty, staff, and students and provide appropriate resources for training and program implementation. Qualifications: •Master's degree from an Accredited College or University in the physical sciences, engineering, environmental management, or related field. •Professional certification in an EHS discipline, such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Biological Safety Professional, or Certified Health Physicist. •Ten (10) years of environmental health and safety experience. •Five (5) years of supervisory experience. •Doctoral degree from an Accredited College or University in the physical sciences, engineering, environmental management, or related field. •Broad understanding and general knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing environmental health and safety. •Specific, expert knowledge in one of the EHS disciplines, including chemical safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, radiation safety, biological safety, or fire safety. •An understanding of the internal environment and organization of the academic, and research institution. •An understanding of the external environment, including the community, similarly situated institutions, and state and federal agencies. •Knowledge of environmental management systems, safety culture, and behavior-based safety models.
