Hiring: Assistant Publicist (NYC Hybrid) Company: HarperCollins Publishers Location: New York, NY Job Posted Time: 2026-09-10 07:38:03 Employment Type: Internship / Hybrid About the job Required Skills: •Assists senior team members with various aspects of high-profile book launch campaigns. •Under close supervision, is responsible for publicity campaigns for own projects each season. •Drafts press releases and pitches, reaches out to targeted press, organizes feedback, helps coordinate interview logistics, tracks media coverage. •Generates media contact lists and contributes to maintaining a shared database. •Schedules book tour logistics and works with travel agency to coordinate author travel itineraries. •Has the opportunity to attend select book signings, help with escorting authors to media interviews, and helps support staff members at special events. •Communicates detailed campaign updates directly to senior publicity staff, editors, marketers, sales team, agents, and authors. •Researches new media and creative promo opportunities, including influencers across Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms. Qualifications: •Prior internship experience in publishing and/or public relations a plus. •Can work collaboratively and independently while contributing to department goals. •Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. •Demonstrated capacity to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. •Demonstrated capacity to handle information confidentially. •Comfortable presenting in front of large groups. •Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. •Candidate ideally has a passion for books and a growth mindset. •HarperCollins Publishers is a company full of people who are passionate about books.
