Hiring: Assistant/Associate Professor of Experimental Relativistic Heavy-Ion Physics Company: Physics World Location: West Lafayette, IN Job Posted Time: 2026-09-13 14:57:46 Target Skills & Keywords : Epic Systems About the job Required Skills: •The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Purdue University invites applications for a faculty position in Experimental Relativistic Heavy-Ion Physics to begin August 2027. •The current relativistic heavy-ion efforts in the department involve physics analyses of the RHIC/STAR/sPHENIX and LHC/CMS experiments, detector design and simulation works on the ePIC experiment at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), and AI-facilitated research on the EIC under the DOE's Genesis Mission. •The successful candidate will establish a vibrant, externally funded research program, driving cutting-edge science in existing experiments while maintaining a strong leadership presence, and spearheading new hardware, software, and/or physics initiatives for EIC. •Mentor graduate students and postdocs and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Qualifications: •Candidates must have a PhD in Nuclear Physics or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
